What is the best flooring for a kitchen?
If you have already selected your kitchen countertops, cabinets and wall colors, then it’s time to decide on the type of flooring that you want in your new or refurbished kitchen. There are so many different flooring products that it’s good to know about all the possibilities before you start narrowing down your options.
The first step is to think about the design elements that you are trying to achieve. Tiles, for example, are rated in four different ways in regards to the shade variation. A shade variation of V4, for example, means that there is a lot of shades on the same tile, which will give you a more relaxed, rustic look and feel. If you are looking for a more modern look, then you should consider tiles that are a bit more monochromatic. In this case, interior designers may recommend a V1, which means that all the tiles are going to be equal in shade and you won’t have very much change in color across your entire floor. Other things to consider when selecting tiles are the edge details of the tiles and the size of the grout.
This is only one flooring type. If you already have hardwood flooring, for example, you may choose to retain this classic flooring option and simply stain or refurbish the wood to make it blend well with your other kitchen finishes.
